Introducing Dot: Voice feedback for Figma designs
Record audio feedback directly in Figma. A better alternative to Loom for design reviews and async collaboration.
Today, we're launching Dot—a new way to give voice feedback in Figma.
I built Dot because design feedback tools were broken. Text comments lose nuance. Loom videos are static and disconnected from your designs. After months of development, Dot is ready—and available now in the Figma Community.
What is Dot?
Dot is a Figma widget that lets you record voice narration while navigating your canvas. The recording lives in your Figma file, syncing your viewport movement with your voice.
When someone plays it back, your narration guides them through the design—more contextual than text comments, less cumbersome than recording separate screen shares.
Core features
- Record voice directly in Figma (up to 10 minutes on Pro, 30 seconds on free tier)
- Viewport tracking that syncs with your audio timeline
- Playback with standard controls (pause, rewind, scrub, speed adjustment)
- Storage in Figma files (no external servers, no expired links)
- Works in Figma web and desktop (best with Figma desktop + Dot Mac app)
We've focused on getting the essential feedback experience right. Features like team management, transcription, and analytics are on our radar as we see how teams use Dot.
Why I built this
I was frustrated with the design feedback workflow. Loom is great, but the videos are static—you can't zoom in for more detail or interact with the design while watching. And the commenting workflow is broken because no one goes back to Loom to check replies.
Figma is where designers work. I wanted a way to provide feedback at a higher fidelity, directly within Figma—so feedback could live alongside the designs. With Dot, viewers can pause a recording, leave a comment on a specific element, and then resume playback. That’s exactly what Dot enables.
The technical challenge
The hardest part was working within Figma's widget API to sync viewport position with audio timeline in a way that felt smooth and natural. Getting that synchronization right was critical—it's what makes Dot feel different from traditional screen recordings.

What this launch means
I built Dot to solve my own problem, and we're making it available because the design feedback workflow is broken for a lot of people.
We're committed to making Dot better based on how real teams use it. If you have feedback or run into issues, we want to hear about it.
Who Dot is for
If you've ever:
- Spent 30 minutes in a feedback meeting that could've been a recording
- Recorded a Loom video and wished viewers could zoom in for more context
- Left detailed text comments that got misunderstood
- Wanted async feedback that actually stayed connected to the design
Dot was built for you.
